Political broadcaster, journalist and author

Born, 1959 in Glasgow. Andrew Marr attended Dundee High School and then went onto achieve a BA in English from Trinity, Cambridge. Andrww is a talented corporate speaker, conference mediator and after dinner speaker..

Andrew's journalistic career started on the Scotsman in 1981 where he progressed from junior business reporter to political editor in 1986.   He worked at the Independent from 1984 - 86 and then at the Economist from 1988 - 92 where he was political editor. He then returned to the Independent in 1992 and became editor in 1996.

He worked for the Express and the Observer prior to joining the BBC as political editor in May 2000.

Andrew has done political documentaries for Channel 4 and Panorama.  

From 1998 to date Andrew has been the Political Editor for the BBC and from September 2005 took over from Sir David Frost on the BBC 1 Breakfast interview show. He also presents Start the Week on Radio 4.

Andrew has written 3 books:

The Battle for Scotland 1992, Ruling Britania 1996 and The Day Britain Died 2000.

He presented the Press Awards in March 2005.

Andrew is married with 3 children and has as his hobbies cooking, painting and remembering his children's names.
