Former
England cricket coach, TV commentator, motivator
Former England team coach David Lloyd has been one
of the top sporting after dinner speakers for over
15 years. He is also a powerful motivational speaker,
having brought his ideas on teamwork and leadership
into effect during his time in charge of the England
side. David is a talented corporate speaker, event host and after dinner speaker.
David’s
true and extremely funny personal cricketing anecdotes
are garnered from a life spent as a professional
cricketer and a glittering career in which he
scored 20,000 runs (including 43 hundreds); took
247 wickets and held 360 catches.
Captain of Lancashire for five years, David played
nine times for England, with a top score of 214
not out against India in 1974.
In his last match for Lancashire, he signed off
in style by scoring a ton in 1983.
As head coach for Lancashire, he took them to
great success in the one-day game before his present
job as England coach which led to a series win
against the Kiwis in early 1997.
He played at one time for Cumberland before becoming
a first-class umpire.
David has also been a much valued member of the
BBC’s Test Match Special commentary team
where his down to earth Lancastrian views and
broad Northern vowels provided the perfect counterpoint
to the Southern element.
Known affectionately as "Bumble", Accrington-born
David will, hopefully, continue to enrich and
enliven the national cricket scene and the after
dinner circuit for many more years to come.wealth
of sporting anecdotes and one liners are an absolute
joy to listen to. |
