Celebrity chef, restaurateur and author.
Chef,
restaurateur, celebrity and author; his distinguished
career, tireless attention to detail and unique
mastery of the ‘'Great British Classics'
truly sets him apart. A history of stunning restaurants
has won him a constellation of Michelin stars
and he is consistently revered by his peers as
truly ‘'The Chef’'s Chef’'.
Gary
Rhodes' legendary dedication to his craft and
relentless pursuit of perfection has placed him
firmly at the forefront of today's culinary world.
Well known as an ambassador for British cuisine, Gary has achieved what no other chef has previously managed to do: he has re-introduced the nation to its rich gastronomic heritage and uncovered a culinary culture to rival that of any other country in the world.
Almost 30 years after graduating from Thanet Technical College in Kent, Gary is an extremely busy man. His undisputedly successful London restaurant, Rhodes Twenty Four, with spectacular views over the City from Tower 42, has just retained its Michelin Star for the second time, whilst his new fine dining venture Rhodes W1 at the recently refurbished Cumberland Hotel was awarded it’s first Michelin star in January 2008 after having only been open for a few months. As well as a brasserie in The Cumberland and the hugely popular Rhodes D7 in Dublin, Gary also has a restaurant in the five-star Calabash Hotel on the beautiful ‘spice-island’ of Grenada and one in the Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai. He also has Arcadian Rhodes and Oriana Rhodes aboard two P&O superliners, meaning that his modern British classics now reach the farthest flung corners of the globe!
Gary's
career to date has seen him win six Michelin stars
and he has made almost twenty TV series, including
Rhodes Around Britain and Hell’s Kitchen.
In June 2006 he was awarded an OBE. His nineteenth
cookery book is due for publication in Autumn
2008.
