Social entrepreneur, poet, mental health spokesman, campaigner and future astronaut, Hussain Manawer, is unlike anyone you will ever meet. Recognised amongst the elite few who became Olympic torchbearers for the Olympics London 2012, Hussain gained notoriety through his online channel, Hussain’s House, where he interviews a host of influential public figures.
Hussain has also been active in raising thousands of pounds for charity. Sleeping rough on London’s streets to raise money for the homeless, climbing Kilimanjaro for charity, taking survival packs for refugees are just a few of the phenomenal tasks Hussain has undertaken
in the name of humanity.
In 2015, Hussain entered and won the Kruger Cowne’s Rising Star Competition after a breath-taking spoken-word performance last November at the One Young World Summit in Bangkok. One of thousands of entrants from over 90 countries, his enthusiastic and dynamic stage presence saw him battle the issues surrounding mental health, leading to a standing ovation from the 2000 strong audience and an influx of social media support.
The Kruger Cowne Rising Star, Hussain will become the voice of the next generation and will travel into space with XCOR Space Expeditions. Presented with the opportunity to experience the world from an entirely new perspective.
Hussain is using this opportunity to campaign passionately about mental health issues. A matter that impacts the global population. His goal is to alleviate the stigma that exists around mental health.
Since taking on the role of Kruger Cowne’s Rising Star, he took the issue of mental health to the streets of London, leading a convoy of branded #MentalHealthMatters supercars through one of the world’s busiest cities and addressing the issue head on.
In the summer of 2016 Hussain took time out of his Space training to visit refugees in Greece. He traveled to Pakistan with Kruger Cowne CEO to help free Kaavan the elephant from 28 years of solitary confinement.
He has also collaborated with the mayor of London to create a short film for the Mayor’s #LondonisOpen campaign, performing an original poem he has written about the launch of the Night Tube and its potential to change the lives of Londoners.
