Justin Packshaw is the Managing Director and co-founder of the award winning fashion label, De Roemer www.deroemer.com. Justin is also a highly sought-after international speaker, giving talks worldwide to businesses about the ‘Science of Achievement’. He is part of Hewlett-Packard’s worldwide ‘Influencer Advisory Board’, he’s a ‘thought leader’ for Paypal as well as being an Ambassador for both ‘The Duke of Edinburgh Awards’ and the UK Governments ‘Great’ Campaign.
His background is an ode to his attention to detail, having been an Officer in the British Army where he saw service in the Gulf War of 1990 and was Equerry to one of the British Royal Family. He is currently a reserve officer and still trains with the British Army. Shortly after leaving his full-time military career, Justin took a Master’s Degree in Business at Edinburgh University. He then moved to New York, where he worked in the financial sector, before setting up his own business.
Justin’s determination, go-getter attitude and optimism has seen him achieve some incredible feats such as; winning the Bollinger Award for outstanding crewman during the 1989/90 Whitbread Round-the-World yacht race; riding horses across Mongolia in search of the Tsaatan Reindeer Tribes; motorbiking across East Africa; winning, a 450 mile man-hauling race to the Magnetic North Pole; jet-skiing across the coast of Nigeria from Cameroon to Benin Republic; helping guide the youngest British girl to ski to the Geographic North Pole; summiting Mount Everest along the North East ridge. He has taken three wounded soldiers from the British Army to the South Pole to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scott and Amundsen’s epic journey there in 1912. He has also replicated Sir Ernest Shackleton’s extraordinary 1914 Endurance expedition, again taking two wounded soldiers from the British Army. His most recent expedition took him back to the North Pole on behalf of the Princes’s Trust raising awareness/funds for young entrepreneurs who have had a tough start in life.
Justin is a strong advocate for raising awareness and money for important causes, from empowering people to reach their potential to looking after and protecting our environment. Philanthropy is an important aspect of his life and his efforts and expeditions that he has been involved in have raised over £5m for important social and environmental initiatives. He is involved with raising awareness for injured Service personnel and is a strong believer in educating our youth in the benefits of the outdoors and encouraging them to the virtues of pushing themselves, following their dreams and striving to be their best. He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to expeditions, youth development, and charity
The elite of Beijing, China were captivated as Justin led us through his talk. Motivational, riveting and lessons that can be applied to everyone running a team or a company. In today’s world, where everyone is looking for an angle, or something different, there is little better than an event with Justin as speaker. Guests feedback was extremely positive and we are already looking at using Justin again in Asia. Doug Rumsam, MD, Bordeaux Index, Asia Pacific
Justin Packshaw gave a motivation and leadership talk to our 50 Partners. His talk was based around lessons learnt on his expeditions in particular getting to the top of Everest and how those lessons can be applied in the business arena. For almost an hour he had an audience who usually have a low attention span completely gripped and engaged – you could have heard a pin drop. James Henderson, CEO, Bell Pottinger Worldwide
Justin joined us in Hong Kong as our Key Note speaker at the Deloitte Asia Tech Awards 2013. His talk was insightful, inspiring and perfectly pitched to the audience. Yvonne Dow, Deloitte Asia
Inspirational and fascinating talk which was delivered in an informal and self-deprecating style but delivered a very clear, proactive and poignant message. Excellent. Richard Oliver, Country Manager, Qatar Airways
Justin gave a fantastic motivational presentation based on his adventure climbing Everest. The talk was incredibly inspiring as he gave insight into what huge challenges people can face and how it is possible to overcome these challenges and succeed in both extreme and business environments. Justin engaged everyone through his own enthusiasm and humour and we all came away feeling far more informed and determined. A brilliant talk, thank you so much. Giles Morland, Chairman, Mirabaud Private Bank
