Tommy Tiernan
Tiernan, Tommy (After Dinner Speakers)
Stand-Up Comedian, MC, host & compere

£5,000 - £10,000

Within just two years of starting a stand up career, and with his debut solo Edinburgh Festival show, Tommy Tiernan was awarded the prestigious 1998 Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Festival, for his outstanding contribution to comedy. In December 1998 Tommy also won the British Comedy Award for best stand up comedian.

An acclaimed comedian and actor, Tommy's enchanting combination of hilarious recollections of growing up in rural Ireland, with acutely observed (poignant) material about relationships - and the world at large, ensures that his act is a journey of offbeat twists, hysterical stories and brilliant one-liners. His sheer originality and overwhelming talent guarantees that there is no other performer like him.

His outstanding live appearances have brought forth major industry attention, with interest from both feature film and television markets. His strong, energetic performances have guaranteed him a strong foothold in the UK, major league status in his native Ireland; headline shows throughout Europe - and a sell out tour of Australia and New Zealand. A prolific writer, his turn over of quality material is nothing short of outstanding. His talent and acclaimed reputation is such, that at the 1997 Dublin Comedy Festival, in addition to selling out his solo show, Tommy was the specially invited guest act for Denis Leary's three shows at the 1200 capacity Olympia Theatre.

As a stand up comedian, Tommy has appeared on BBC's ' The Stand Up Show' : ' The Late, Late Show' (3 times); Channel 4's ' Gas' ; C5's 'Comedy Network' and ITV's 'Good Stuff Comedy Special' ; He is currently developing 2 solo projects for television and has filmed a commissioned 30 minute solo stand up special ( 'Tommy Tiernan is Alive' ) for Channel 4 television, which is due for a November broadcast. As an actor his credits include 'Hold Back The Night' for Parallax Pictures (Ken Loach's company); 'The Slot' for Channel 4 (a solo comedy monologue), 'Last TV' for RTE (solo comedy monologue) and in the feature films 'Angela Mooney Dies Again' , ' The Life of Stuff' and 'The Matchmaker' (co-starring alongside Denis Leary). Tommy also co-starred in the final episode of the last series of 'Father Ted' (as 'Father Kevin' - the crying priest), which won him great praise. A formally trained actor, Tommy also has a huge range of theatre credits to his name.

Tommy is not only - but is destined to be one of the premier international comedy stars.

"Some people have stardom thrust upon them, others thrust themselves at it. Tommy Tiernan casually bumped into it as if it were an old mate, bought it a drink and invited it around for dinner. He is so talented and with everything going for him, Tiernan is one of those people you see and think 'that's not fair, you're not even trying!" Tommy Tiernan. Remember that name. A major star" - THE EXPRESS

"...... has a comic ferocity resembling that of Billy Connolly" - THE TIMES
