Footballer, Coach, Motivator

If ever there was a prize for the keenest footballer ever to play for Manchester United then it would have to go to Wilf McGuinness. He was possessed by an all consuming enthusiasm for football in general and United in particular.

Wilf was one of the `Busby Babes’ and understudy to the great Duncan Edwards. His career was cut short by injury after playing 85 games for United and gaining 2 caps for England. He then went on to the coaching side and this was followed by the unenviable task of succeeding Sir Matt Busby as Manager of United. He also managed York City and Bury. He was a member of the England coaching team during the late sixties.

Wilf is the only man to both play for and manage Manchester United.
He is now much in demand as an excellent and very humorous after dinner speaker.
