About

Emily Dean

Emily Dean is the sidekick to Frank Skinner on his Sony Gold Award winning Absolute Radio show which broadcasts every Saturday from 8 – 10am. She is also the Deputy Editor of InStyle magazine.

Emily started acting at a young age and attended the Anna Scher children’s theatre in London. She appeared in a variety of TV, radio and film productions – including cult BBC series The Day of the Triffids, the films Memoirs of a Survivor alongside Julie Christie, SOS Titanic with Helen Mirren and the popular ITV drama series Nanny.

After graduating from University with an English Literature degree, Emily started her career at The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Magazine before joining The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine as Show Business Editor. During this time she appeared regularly on Nickelodeon reporting on entertainment. Her career in journalism continued at the Sunday Express magazine, where she became Deputy Editor and the Evening Standard’s ES magazine where she was Editor-at-Large. Throughout this time she made regular appearances as a guest alongside host Claudia Winkleman on BBC Three’s Liquid News.

Emily then moved into television production as Features Editor for ITV1’s This Morning, after which she worked for Hotsauce TV as a co-producer on Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz of the Year, which she co-produced for five successive years, as well as the Big Fat Anniversary Quiz.

In 2010 Emily joined InStyle magazine, the glossy fashion and style title as Deputy Editor. As well as her regular role with Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, she also continues to contribute to fashion and style programmes such as BBC News 24, where she discussed Oscar fashion, and the E! Entertainment channel where she contributed on their royal wedding build-up. This year she took part as a panellist in a new BBC One pilot, Rule of Three hosted by Rebecca Front, which also featured Chris Addison and Russell Howard.
