About

Gavin Ramjaun

Gavin Ramjaun is television and media personality in the UK – known for anchoring news, sports and light entertainment programmes.

Currently one of the main faces of BBC Sport, Gavin is hosting rolling sports coverage and programmes for the BBC’s network of shows across BBC One, Two and News Channel, in addition to BBC World which has a reach of over 400 million a week.

His TV work also includes hosting and anchoring for Sky Sports News, Sky News, CBS News in America, breakfast television for ITV and Channel 5. Along with developing a strong social footprint, he’s often hosting for media events, business keynotes, and other creative commercial campaigns – including diverse work for Barclays, Marriott Hotels, Four Seasons, AJ Bell and Reckitt Benckiser.

He’s also played a senior role in launching a new network to the landscape – London Live, in conjunction with the Evening Standard newspaper…. As the main presenter the channel, he fronted and produced news programming in the evening and lunchtime – aswell as hosted the live entertainment shows from special events.

Prior to London Live, Gavin has worked on ITV’s flagship show This Morning, as a news presenter, reviewer and contributor in the magazine show’s interactive hub section, engaging with presenters, celebrities and viewers. He’s also highly regarded for his work with another ITV programme, morning news show Daybreak, hosting their 2012 Olympic coverage. Before this, Gavin was a presenter on the BBC News Channel and correspondent for BBC Breakfast but got his on-air break presenting Newsround and Sportsround on CBBC from 2005. On the odd occasion, he has been known to hang out and play football with mega-stars like Justin Bieber, or even play golf with Samuel L. Jackson!

Gavin also reported on Radio Five Live, the Today programme on Radio 4, and the famous BBC World Service. He later became the youngest presenter in BBC World TV history at the age of 26.

Having gained two top degrees at Cardiff University in the business school, he then went on to complete the Postgraduate journalism course at City University. He started his career in the media as a runner for Ant and Dec on the peak time series Saturday Night Takeaway, and before joining CBBC in September 2005, Gavin was a trainee broadcast journalist for ITV at Meridian.

Born and bred in Worcestershire, and a keen footballer in his spare time, he played semi-professionally as a teenager and in university, and dabbles in the odd charity game when it comes up. He also loves to read crime and escapism literature, attempting to learn languages(!), and travel. His family is from Ile Maurice, with relatives also across Europe.
