Lord Ian Botham OBE

Ian Botham is a retired international cricketer who is regarded as one of the world’s greatest ever all-rounders. Botham uses his expertise and knowledge of the sport to captivate viewers across the world. Also a cricket raconteur, Botham possesses wonderful presenting skills and can inspire audiences for any type of event or occasion. Ian now spends most of his time working on a range of his own wines called Botham Wines.

A winner of many awards due to his star-studded career, Botham is no stranger to success. In 2018, Botham was named in England’s greatest Text XI by the ECB following England’s 1000th Test Match. A unique sporting career, Botham also spent time as a footballer for Yeovil Town and Scunthorpe United and is now the president of the club.

Throughout his career, Botham played for a number of different county teams. He started his career at Somerset in 1974 and would play for the West Country side until 1986. He then played overseas in Australia for state side Queensland and for Worcestershire later on. Ending his career at Durham, Botham has built a great relationship with the county and is now the current chairman.

During his international career, Botham played 102 test matches and 116 one day internationals, In this time, he scored 14 centuries and over 7,000 runs with the bat, as well as taking 27 five-wicket hauls and over 383 wickets. An extraordinary career and an exceptional talent, Botham often talks about his sporting success throughout his time as a cricket raconteur. For over two years of his international career, Botham was the all-time leading wicket-taker in test cricket, he was also the first player ever to score a century and take ten wickets in a single test match.
