Biography:

Comedian, actor, quiz show host, singer, adventurer, presenter… Alexander Armstrong has many strings to his entertainment bow.

As a regular face of prime time TV he is best known for being one half of comedy duo Armstrong and Miller, alongside fellow actor Ben Miller. Alexander shot to fame starring in four series of Armstrong and Miller from 1997 to 2001 before renewing his partnership with Ben for BAFTA winning The Armstrong and Miller Show in 2007 for three series. In a quest to discover the story behind his family history, Alexander featured in the BBC series, Who Do You Think You Are?  discovering that he was a descendant of William the Conqueror!

Alexander has hosted the hugely popular quiz show Pointless since it began in 2009. Other presenting roles have including Alexander Armstrong’s Big Ask and Epic Win, as well as frequently guest hosting on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You. Christmas 2014 saw Alexander co-host Frank Sinatra: Our Way with Rochelle Humes. In 2013 Alexander presented The Twelve Drinks of Christmas, a one off special for BBC2 alongside his brother-in-law, Giles Coran.

2015 has brought Alexander some exciting ventures. He went to Rome to explore the hidden tunnels of Italy’s capital, filming Rome’s Invisible City for BBC. With the help of cutting-edge 3D scanners, he and his “walking Wikipedia” Dr Michael Scott worked with experts to reveal the invisible subterranean world and hidden treasures lurking beneath.

Alexander has also turned his hand to straight acting and has starred in numerous TV dramas including Love LifeLife BeginsSaxondale and Julia Davis’ 2012 comedy Hunderby. Alexander has been working on voicing the children cartoon series of Danger Mouse. In 2014, Alexander appeared in the ITV2 post-apocalyptic sitcom CockroachesMusic is also a huge love of Alexander’s. In 2015 he joined forces with the stars of the Warner Music Group, working on a medley if classical songs for his forthcoming album. In 2013 he performed his debut show as a singer at St James’ Theatre, London.

Hugely popular on the corporate circuit Alexander is much in demand for awards hosting and after dinner speaking.
